Anton Voigt

Anton Voigt studied at Innsbruck Conservatoire as well as Universities of Innsbruck, Salzburg, and Vienna. Next to his major tutor Margot Pinter (former student of Eduard Steuermann, Emil von Sauer, Carl Steiner, and Alfred Cortot) he was guided into his career by Yvonne Lefebure and Wilhelm Kempff. Since 1972 Voigt has been active as both piano soloist and chamber musician throughout many European countries. His repertoire consists of the major piano works from 18th to 20th century, and by giving first performances he has helped many a piece onto the stage. Since 1976 he holds a professorship at Anton Bruckner University, where in the past he also served in diverse positions. After retiring from Bruckner University, Voigt still is active as soloist, holds master classes, and acts as adjudicator at both national and international piano competitions. He also is president of EPTA Austria and represents Austrian piano pedagogy at conferences throughout the world. Major issues are in analysis and solution to pianistic problems and in application of posture and movement techniques to piano playing.
