Rannveig Braga Rannveig Braga teaches at the Viennese “Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst”, at the “Institut für Gesang und Musiktheater” and at the “Institut Salieri–Gesang” (pedagogy). Invitations brought her abroad, e.g. in 2009 and 2011 to Taiwan to lead a masterclass at the Tunghai-university in the frame of the Tunghai Music Festival, and in 2010 to China (faculty of voice pedagogy of the Schenyang Conservatory). Born in Iceland, she studied solo, Lied, oratorio, opera and pedagogy at the Viennese Music university, achieved her diplomas with distinction and was awarded by the grade magistra artium and by the appreciation prize of the Austrian ministry of arts and science. Appearances on stage already during her study. Engagements at the Vienna Opera studio, at the Viennese State Opera (1987-1991), at the Salzburg Easter- and summer-festivals, at the Frankfurt Opera (1997-2000), as well as guest appearances in Belgium, France, Germany, Iceland and Austria (e.g. Rosina/Barbiere di Seviglia/Rossini, Cherubino/Nozze di Figaro)Mozart, composer/Ariadne/R. Strauss, Hänsel/Hänsel und Gretel/Humperdinck, Despina/Cosi fan tutte/Mozart). Her wide-ranging artistic activities feature thematic Lieder-performances, solo-appearances in oratorio-performances and involvements at numerous first-night performances and premières of music, some of what composed for her. Rannveig Braga has taken part at numerous CD-recordings, among others: “Die Frau ohne Schatten” (ML: Sir Georg Solti, Decca), “Salome” (ML: Christoph von Dohnanyi, Decca), “La Traviata” (Verlag Naxos). Her Lieder-CDs featuring Schubert, Schumann, Wolf and Grieg were nominated for the music prize “Best Icelandic classics CDs”. In 2000 the Icelandic president awarded her the “Ritterkreuz des isländischen Falkenordens” for outstanding artistic achievements. Voice

Brigitte Geller Brigitte Geller grew up in Switzerland. She studied flute and singing at the Musikhochschule Basel and completed both studies with a soloist diploma. Her further musical path led her from Basel via the Zurich International Opera Studio and the Theater der Stadt Heidelberg to Berlin to the Komische Oper, with detours to Great Britain, France, Italy, Greece, China, and now to the Landestheater Linz. She has worked with conductors such as Bertram de Billy, Marcus Creed, Paul McCreesh, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Eliahu Inbal, Philippe Jordan, Ton Koopmann, Jakov Kreizberg, Kirill Petrenko, Markus Poschner, Nello Santi, and has developed a strong stage presence working with Ruth Berghaus, Stefan Herheim, Andreas Homoki, Peter Konwitschny, Barrie Kosky, Harry Kupfer and Hans Neuenfels. In addition to opera, she has been active as a concert and lieder singer since her studies. Formerly a light lyrical soprano with roles such as Susanna, Pamina, Sophie, Zdenka, Füchslein, Gretel, Brigitte Geller has turned in recent years to the more dramatic subject with roles such as Poppea, Contessa (Nozze di Figaro), Konstanze, Fiordilligi, Donna Anna and Traviata. Since September 2017 she has been singing parts of the youthfully dramatic repertoire at the Landestheater in Linz, such as the Empress in "Die Frau ohne Schatten"; by Richard Strauss, Chrysothemis in "Elektra"; and Cherubini's "Médée";. These diverse experiences enable her to convey valuable ideas far beyond purely musical interpretation. Brigitte Geller teaches at the Universität der Künste in Berlin and regularly gives master classes. From the winter semester 2020 Brigitte is a professor of singing at the University of Music in Nuremberg. Voice

Bernhard Landauer Bernhard Landauer has appeared in productions by Brigitte Fassbaender, Achim Freyer and Harry Kupfer at the Berlin State Opera, at the Bregenz Festival, at the Aalto-theatre in Essen, at the Frankfurt Opera House, at the Innsbruck Festival Weeks, at the Schwetzingen-Festival and at the Viennese Staatsoper and Volksoper. His partners were Thomas Hengelbrock, René Jacobs, Robert King, Bernhard Kontarsky, Ton Koopman and Mstislaw Rostropowitsch. His list of repertoire features ancient music, Lieder of the romantic era, as far as to first performances of works by Richard Dünser, Alfred Schnittke, John White and Simon Wills. Since many years he is thoroughly devoted to respiration technique, physical and mental training in cooperation with (among others) Renate Schulze-Schindler ("Institut für bipolare Atem-, Körper- und Stimmarbeit", Berlin) and Franz Pissinger (Research Centre for Hypnosis, Vienna). Between 1998 and 2004 he was a teacher at the Viennese Conservatory. 2006-2016 he received a training in Craniosacral Work at the Milne Institute (USA). Voice

Christoph Strehl In 2013 the German Tenor Christoph Strehl became Professor at the University Mozarteum Salzburg. He was born in Lübeck in 1968 and studied with Soto Papulkas at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen and later with Silvana Bazzoni Bartoli in Zürich. He attended Masterclasses with Axel Bauni, Norman Shettler, Josef Metternich, Gianni Raimondi and Claude Thiolas. In 2002 he became a member of the Opernhaus Zürich, where he remained for nine years. After his debut as Don Ottavio at the Salzburg Festival with Nikolaus Harnoncourt, an international career began as a leading Mozart-Tenor, which led him, among others, to the opera houses of Vienna, Munich, Hamburg, London, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Geneva and New York (MET), as well as to the festivals of Aix-en-Provence,  Lucerne and the Wiener Festwochen. He sung the role of Tamino in Claudio Abbado´s recording of the Magic Flute. As Lieder singer he performed with Helmut Deutsch at the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, in Zürich, Cologne and Amsterdam. In the meantime he has extended his repertoire to include roles such as Rodolfo, Don José, Schuiskj and Pollione alongside Cecilia Bartoli at Monte Carlo Opera House in February 2016. Voice

Rainer Trost The internationally sought-after Mozart tenor Rainer Trost, who comes from Stuttgart, is professor for voice at the University of Music Vienna (mdw). He sings at all major opera houses worldwide, including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Opéra Bastille, the Metropolitan Opera, the Salzburg Festival and the State Operas in Munich, Hamburg, Dresden and Vienna. In concert he worked at the concert halls in Düsseldorf, Zurich, Hamburg, Lisbon and the Musikverein Vienna with conductors such as C. Abbado, D. Gatti, N. Harnoncourt, R. Muti, C. M. Giulini, T. Koopman, H. Rilling, S. Ozawa and T. Pinnock. His work is documented many times on CD, among others with J. E. Gardiner on Mozart's "Così fan tutte" and Lehár's "Die lustige Witwe", Mozart's "La clemenza di Tito", Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's "Paulus", Beethoven's "Missa Solemnis" and "Fidelio" as well as Schubert's "Die schöne Müllerin" and "Schubert's Friends". Martin Vacha Martin Vácha, born in Wiener Neustadt, school with music as emphasis; further education with diplomas in Voice, Voice Pedagogy and Solo Voice Performance in Vienna, graduate degree in Arts Management in Hamburg, Dr. Phil. with a doctoral thesis about the singer’s profession, all degrees graduated with high honors; courses in Operetta, Church Music (organ) and Adult Education; master classes and private lessons with Prof. Helga Meyer-Wagner, Prof. Cornelius Reid, Prof. Noelle Turner (musical theatre) und Prof. Sebastian Vittucci. Claudia Visca Claudia Visca was a professor for voice at the Hochschule für Musik, Cologne between 2000 and 2003, and since 2002 she is a professor at the Viennese 'Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst', institute for voice and music theatre. She also regularly directs international master classes for voice and interpretation and acts also as a jury member at international competitions. Her students are prize-winners of many competitions and they are engaged at well-known opera houses. Her 26-year's career saw her at more than 25 opera houses, among others in Amsterdam, Berlin, Cologne, Geneva, Munich, Vienna and Zurich. She embodied 75 roles in operas, operettas and musicals in about 2000 performances. In her career and also in numerous chamber music concerts she has appeared together with Leonard Bernstein, Eugene Ormandy, Isvan Kertesz, Rudolf Serkin, Yo Yo Ma, with members of the Guaneri Quartet, Sandor Vegh, Bruno Canino, Sarvatore Accardo, with the Rom String Quartet, with Jean-Pierre Rampal, Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo. Born in New York she finished her studies at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia. A Fulbright scholarship brought her to the Viennese 'Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst', where she studied with Hilde Rössel-Majdan and Anton Dermota. Voice

Helena Zubanovich-Baranowska Helena Zubanovich has been giving successful masterclasses for years and is professor of singing at the University of Art Graz from 1 October 2019. The German mezzo-soprano was born in Poland and received her first musical training at the Music Academy in Katowice, from 1994 she studied further at the Academy of Music and Theatre received her diploma with distinction in the Facu Opera Oratorio and Concert Singer. Later she completed her training with Ingrid Kremling, Kerstin Mayer, Elio Battaglia, Brigitte Fassbender and Teresa Zylis-Gara. Helena Zubanovich has won the following singing competitions: A. Dvorak (Karlove Very), Teatro Massimo (Palermo), International Operetta R. Stolz (Hamburg), Mirjam Helin (Helsinki). She made her opera debut at Opera Bytom in Poland, in 1993 as Mimi. Her first engagements took her to the Volksoper Wien, where she debuted with Baba the Turk from Stravinsky's "The Rake's Progress". Helena Zubanovich established her as a dramatic mezzo-soprano and has sung in the following international opera houses: Teatro Massimo Palermo, Teatro Bellini, Teatro Maestranza Sevilla, Opera Nationale Montpellier, Opera Nationale Normandie, Den Norske Opera Oslo, Große Festspielhaus Salzburg, Tonhalle Zurich, Nationale Theater Brno, Nationale Theater Praha, Nationale Theater Warsaw, Alto Theater Essen, Deutsche Oper am Rhein and National Theater Mannheim. Helena Zubanovich sang in the first Wagner production in National Center for Art in Beijing "The Flying Dutchman" directed by Giancarlo del Monaco. In 2013 she made her debut at the Bavarian State Opera Munich in the role of Jezybaba from Dvorak's "Rusalak". From 2015 until today, she has been a member of the ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera. There she sang with great success the role of Kostelnicka from the Janaceck opera "Jenufa", the Jezybaba from "Rusalka", the mother from Humperdinks "Hansel and Gretel" and the La Frugola from Puccini's "Ill Tabaro. " At the Theater Essen and the Teatre Wielki in Poznań, Poland, she sang the Amneris from Guiseppe Verdi's "Aida. " Helena Zubanovch works with renowned conductors such as Kiril Petrenko, Simone Young, Tomas Hanus, MarcoArmiliato, Pablo Haffter and Asher Fisch. In 2020 she will sing the role of Kostelnicka (Jenufa) at the Welsh National Opera. The master classes for singers offers individual participants as well as existing piano-chant - ensembles  the possibility to prepare intensively concert recitals, contests, auditions or exams or just to prepare a program of free choice.

Students, professional singers as well as teachers, who lack time and possibility during the school year for making music, have the possibility to work together for a week in the magic ambience of castle Zell an der Pram and to exchange experiences.

Individual technical, musical and methodical-didactic support for singers will represent the further focuses of these master classes.

Invited are

Primarily singing students from music universities, music colleges and conservatories, music schools and young singers who want to prepare for entrance examinations at music universities, music colleges and conservatories, for competitions and concert performances or simply want to work on a programme of their choice, as well as professional musicians and singing teachers. 

Semiprofessional singers/amateurs who are willing to work according to professional criteria can only be admitted to a limited extent for the time being. Further places can only be bindingly accepted after the deadline of 15 May in accordance with the availability of places.

The courses are open to participants aged 16 and over. Exceptions are possible in consultation with the course management

The courses focus on basis of technique, vocal training, control of respiration, part writing, use of voices, training of pronunciation, quality of correct exercises, and particularly for singing teachers "Methodology and didactics of vocal instruction".
Expansion of musical power of expression and promotion of the musical personality will help to find ways to independent interpretation. Coping with stress and fear of performance, among others, through mental training by playing in front of the group during lessons and in the workshop concert.

Closing Concert

The workshop concerts and the official closing concert are in the Freskensaal of the castle Zell an der Pram. The participants will be selected by the professors.

Leisure-Time Activities

There are sports grounds, a swimming-bath and a gym for ball-games, table tennis, etc. You will certainly have time for a trip to explore the surroundings of Zell an der Pram.
