Theresia Kainzbauer | Cello
Theresia Kainzbauer works as a teacher in the Grein and Feistadt State Music College and as a freelance artist. She is a cellist in the Triton piano trio, with which she received the Stepski Special Prize for the best interpretation of a contemporary work in 2009. In 2010 the trio was awarded the ABPU Scholarship. She has performed in concerts with, among others, the L´Orfeo Baroque Orchestra, the Harmonices Mundi and Ensemble Sonare Chamber orchestras and the Tassilo Quartet and has toured Europe and China with various orchestras. Theresia Kainzbauer is heavily involved in early music and has been studying the Baroque cello with Claire Pottinger-Schmidt since 2009. Her artistic education was enriched by courses with Gerhard Mantel, Ramon Jaffé, Tamás Varga, Luca Simoncini and the International Conference on Early Music. Having completed her studies at the Linz School of Music, she went on to study at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz in Andreas Pözlberger’s cello and chamber music class, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in 2006 and a Masters with distinction in 2009. She supplemented her studies with a one-year stay in Germany at the Carl Maria von Weber College of Music, Dresden, where she studied under Clemens Krieger. In addition, during her Masters studies at the ABPU she was taught by Predrag Katanic.
