Raphael Kasprian has his first violin lessons at the Carinthian State Conservatory and completed his studies (IGP and violin concert) with Prof. Brian Finlayson in Klagenfurt in 2008. In 2011 he finished his studies at the Mozarteum Salzburg in the class of Prof. Benjamin Schmid with the master examination. As a member of the Acies Quartet, he studied for several years at the Instituto International de Musica da Camera in Madrid with Prof. Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet) and, in addition to numerous prizes and awards (BA/CA Artist of the Year 2007, Artist of the Year of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation Ö1 2007, etc. ), was able to record several CDs for the Austrian label Gramola (including the Schubert Quintet with David Geringas- Aciesquartett). His chamber music partners include Christopher Hinterhuber, Barbara Moser, Tristan Schulze, Dmitri Ashkenazy, Ketevan Sepashvili, members of the Vienna Philharmonic, Martin Rummel, Till Alexander Körber and many others. He celebrated solo successes with performances of violin concertos by Dmitri Shostakovich and Alban Berg with the Carinthian Symphony Orchestra and the Ljubljana Radio Symphony Orchestra. His pedagogical activities include teaching at the Carinthian State Conservatory, the Gustav Mahler Music School Klagenfurt and the Upper Austrian Music School Association. Since the winter semester 2013 Raphael Kasprian has been in charge of a violin and chamber music class at the Johann Josef Fux Conservatory in Graz and at the Musikschule Wels Herminenhof.
