Barbara Zubanovich has been giving successful master classes for years and is professor of voice at the Art University of Graz since October 1, 2019. The German mezzo-soprano was born in Poland and received her first musical education there in the Music Academy in Katowice, from 1994 she continued her studies at the Academy of Music and Theatre and received her diploma with distinction in the subject, opera oratorio and concert singer. Later she completed her education with Ingrid Kremling, Kerstin Mayer, Elio Battaglia, Brigitte Fassbender and Teresa Zylis-Gara. 

Barbara Zubanovich was a prize winner of the following singing competitions: A.Dvorak (Karlove Very), Teatro Massimo (Palermo), International Operette R.Stolz (Hamburg), Mirjam Helin (Helsinki). She made her operatic debut at Opera Bytom in Poland, in 1993 as Mimi. Her first engagements took her to the Volksoper Wien, where she debuted with "Baba the Turk" from Stravinsky's "The Rake's Progress". Barbara Zubanovich established herself as a dramatic mezzo-soprano and sang in the following international opera houses: Teatro Massimo Palermo, Teatro Bellini, Teatro Maestranza Sevilla, Opera Nationale Montpellier, Opera Nationale Normandie, Den Norske Opera Oslo, Grosses Festspielhaus Salzburg, Tonhalle Zurich, National Theater Brno, National Theater Praha, National Theater Warsaw, Alto Theater Essen, Deutsche Oper am Rhein and National Theater Mannheim. 

Barbara Zubanovich sang in the first Wagner production in National Center for Arts in Beijing "The Flying Dutchman directed by Giancarlo del Monaco. In 2013 she made her debut at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich in the role of Jezybaba from Dvorak's "Rusalak". Since 2015 until today she has been part of the ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera. There she sang with great success the role of Kostelnicka from the Janaceck opera "Jenufa", Jezybaba from "Rusalka", the Mother from Humperdink's "Hansel and Gretel" and La Frugola from Puccini's "Ill Tabaro". At the Theater Essen and the Teatre Wielki in Poznan, Poland, she sang Amneris from Guiseppe Verdi's "Aida". Barbara Zubanovch collaborates with renowned conductors such as Kiril Petrenko, Simone Young, Tomas Hanus, MarcoArmiliato, Pablo Haffter and Asher Fisch. In 2020 she sang the role of Kostelnicka (Jenufa) in the Welsh Nationale Opera. Barbara Zubanovich has made the following CD recordings: Maria Padilla by Donizetti Warsaw TV and Radio Orchestra, conductor Lukasz Borowicz, Otello by Verdi under Lawerence Foster.
