solo

18.07.2021 - 24.07.2021

Professors:

Britta Bauer Britta Bauer MA, is lecturer in flute at the University of the Mozarteum in Salzburg. She is also passionately active as a teacher of children and adolescents at the Leopold Mozart “Hochbegabteninstitut” for talented young musicians as well as at the Pre-College, Salzburg of the Mozarteum. Her students include prize-winners at international competitions. Since 2007, she has been a regular guest lecturer at the international Payerbacher Masterclasses in Lower Austria and has held various seminars, courses and workshops in Austria and abroad, her next engagement being masterclasses in Beijing, China. Britta is also very much active as a concert flautist. She was solo flautist of the Hofgartenorchesters in Bonn for 7 years and has performed as soloist with several orchestras, including the Duisburger Sinfonikern, the Rheinischen Philharmonie in Koblenz and the Barockensemble Rheinklang in Cologne. She has been engaged as a soloist at various festivals, including the Wiener Festwochen, Uferlichter and Rheingau Festival and has appeared in countries such as Germany, Austria, Bolivia, Poland and Norway. As a chamber musician, she has also toured extensively through Europe with her trio, “Sirius” and also plays in a trio whose members include members of the Viennese State Opera Orchestra (Andrea Wutschek, Cello) and University of the Mozarteum (Prof. Eva Salmutter, piano). The trio gave its debut in 2005 at the Wiener Festwochen. Britta has received an international education spanning both the arts and sciences, studying flute, music education, medicine and pedagogy. She has studied in Bonn, Cologne, Berlin, Paris and Salzburg, receiving all her university degrees with distinction. Important influences in her artistic development as a flautist have come from James Galway, Marianne Geise, Peter Lukas Graf, Wolfgang Schulz and Greg Pattillo. In Paris, she studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in the class of Pierre Yves Artaud, where she gained significant insight into the interpretation of French music of the “Fin de Siècle” period. Through her training in medicine, she developed the idea of the “Body-Instrument” (“Körper-Instrument”) as an important part of her pedagogical work in teaching the flute. After completing an education in “Music Medicine and Music Psychology in Daily Artistic Life”, she developed a concept designed especially for the teaching of the flute: “Der Körper klingt – The Body Sounds”. She has already been invited by several international seminars to present this concept, the latest being in Lodz (Poland) in February 2015. Apart from her engagements as an educator and teacher, Britta is also active as a jury member at various competitions and as an advisor for flute at the German Music Council. She is also author for several music pedagogical magazines. Britta  plays, with much joy, a Nagahara 14 K. Flute
