The Italian violinist and violist Alberto Stiffoni comes from Treviso, where he began playing the violin at the age of four. His studies took him to Graz, where he completed his Master’s degree in viola at the University of Music and Performing Arts in the class of Christian Euler, graduating with distinction. He also studied the violin with Andrej Bielow in Graz and Noè Inui in Düsseldorf, and completed his Master’s degree in the class of Vesna Stankovic in Graz.

He gained further inspiration through masterclasses with Marco Rizzi, Krzysztof Wegrzyn, Pavel Vernikov and Igor Ozim.

Alberto Stiffoni has won prizes at various competitions in Italy and abroad. He won 2nd prize at the 23rd International Violin Competition ‘Young Virtuoso’ – ZAGREB 2017 and a special prize at the Odessa International Violin Competition 2018. Together with the pianist Irina Vaterl, he also won 1st prize at the Stockholm International Music Competition.

As a member of the Oberton String Octet, Alberto Stiffoni has performed at the Konzerthaus Wien, the Musikverein Graz, the Styrian Chamber Music Festival, the Carinthian Summer Festival, the Millstatt Music Weeks, the Gmunden Festival and the Attergau Cultural Summer. In October 2018, the ensemble was invited to perform at the Hofburg as part of the celebrations marking the centenary of the Republic of Austria, in the presence of the Federal President. He has released two CDs with the ensemble: *Slavic Soul* (ARS Produktion – March 2020) and *Tangabile* (Oberton Records – March 2021).

He also performs chamber music with Julian Arp, Jevgēnijs Čepoveckis, Christian Euler, Benjamin Herzl, Andreas Schablas, Markus Schirmer, Benjamin Schmid, Philipp Scheucher, Thomas Selditz and Irina Vaterl, and has taken part in festivals such as Styriarte and Arsonore, amongst others. From summer 2023, he will hold the position of concertmaster with the Oberton+ Chamber Orchestra.

During the 24/25 and 25/26 seasons, Alberto Stiffoni will serve as a substitute violist in productions by Graz Opera and the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra.

Alberto Stiffoni currently teaches violin at the Gleisdorf Music School and the Johann-Joseph-Fux Conservatoire in Graz.
