Dorothea Kügler studied cello at the Vienna University of Music with Wolfgang Aichinger, Matthias Gredler and Elisabeth Meissl-Pfefferkorn. As part of her master's degree in hammered dulcimer at the Anton Bruckner Private University, she majored in baroque cello and historical performance practice with Claire Pottinger-Schmidt. Her musical education was enriched by courses with Maria Grün, Wolfgang Aichinger, Conradin Brotbek, Julian Arp, Clemens Weigel, Claire Pottinger-Schmidt and Walter-Michael Vollhardt.
Together with Erika Spring, a pianist, she founded the duo Soundfever and performed as a scholarship holder of the Live Music Now Foundation in Vienna. She works as a substitute in the Vorarlberg Symphony Orchestra and the St. Nikolaus Cathedral Orchestra. As a juror, she often takes part in the national Prima la Musica competition and enjoys supporting talented young musicians.
For the past two years she has been teaching cello at the Stella Vorarlberg, a private music college, and leads a cello and hammered dulcimer class at the Bregenz music school.
