Barbara Lübke

Barbara Lübke taught a cello class at the Pre-College Salzburg at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. She was born in Wiesbaden and studied cello in Würzburg, Freiburg, and Düsseldorf. At just 18 years old, she became principal cellist of the Cologne Chamber Orchestra, with which she undertook numerous tours throughout Europe and America—often as a soloist. In 1978, she was appointed principal cellist of the Camerata Salzburg by Sandor Vegh. At the same time, she joined the Pro-Arte Quartet, with which she pursued an international career. Concerts at numerous renowned chamber music festivals, extensive concert tours, and a recording contract with RCA Victor-BMG attest to the stature of this ensemble. Barbara Lübke is a highly sought-after chamber music partner among recognized colleagues, including—to name just a few—Benjamin Schmid, Radovan Vlatkovic, Sabine Meyer, Hermann Baumann, Eduard Brunner, Julius Berger, and Dimitri Sgouros.
