“Benjamin Herzl used the collaboration with the pianist Fazil Say to create a brilliant performance” (Salzburger Nachrichten)

Salzburg violinist Benjamin Herzl is one of the most versatile musicians of his generation. At the age of 13, he made his debut at the International Mozart Festival with the Kurpfälzische Kammerorchester in Mannheim. Since then, he has appeared on the most important stages as a soloist: Konzerthaus Dortmund, Wiener Musikverein, Festspielhaus Salzburg, Wiener Konzerthaus, San Felipe Neri Havana, among others. In 2019/20, Benjamin Herzl acted as a Featured Artist in numerous concerts in the jubilee season 70 Years of Jeunesse Musicales. Performances at the Brucknerhaus Linz (Bruckner Orchestra) and the Wiener Konzerthaus (Filharmonie Brno) under Dennis Russell Davies, or with the SOV (Bregenzer Festspielhaus) under Gérard Korsten fell victim to the Corona pandemic, but are being caught up.

Other highlights of the 20/21 season include appearances at the Grafenegg Festival, the Wiener Musikverein, the Mozarteum Salzburg and the International Music Festival Póvoa de Varzim in Portugal. His chamber music partners include Imogen Cooper, Julia Hagen, Ingmar Lazar, Beatrice Rana, Fazil Say and Thomas Zehetmair. Benjamin Herzl has performed at festivals such as Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, LOISIARTE, Julian Rachlin & Friends, Dialoge Salzburg, Internationale Nikolaus Harnoncourt Tage, Les Musicales de Redon and Mozart Festival Havana. The OeNB exclusively lends the artist the “ex Guilet” Joseph Guarnerius violin, year 1732, from its collection of valuable string instruments. This instrument was previously played by Daniel Guilet (Beaux Arts Trio), David Oistrach, Henriyk Szeryng and Joshua Bell.

The violinist first received his education at the Salzburg Mozarteum. Later he studied in Vienna with Christian Altenburger and in the soloist class with Julian Rachlin. He is a scholarship holder of the Mozart Society Dortmund, laureate of the International Brahms Competition and winner of the Mozart Prize donated by Vadim Repin.
