Johannes Wilhelm

Johannes Wilhelm is a multiple prize winner at Prima la Musica (several first prizes) and the Váša Príhoda Competition. In February 2022, he won the audition for the Beethoven Violin Concerto with the Brucknerbund Orchestra Ried im Innkreis. Regular masterclasses with the two star violinists Benjamin Schmid and Maxim Vengerov provide Johannes with important impetus for his career. Further masterclasses have taken him to Ulf Wallin, Christian Altenburger, Rudens Turku, Christoph Koncz (Vienna Philharmonic), Marianne Piketty, and others. Since April 2024, Johannes has been receiving regular lessons from the world-renowned violin teacher Kirill Troussov. Johannes has already participated in numerous CD, radio, and TV productions, including for Ö1 and Servus TV.

In addition to his classical training, Johannes studied jazz improvisation intensively during his studies, where he was taught by jazz star violinist Benjamin Schmid from 2017 to 2021.

Johannes also regularly engages in pop music, including recordings with DJ Parov Stelar (Sixfeeet Underground and Rebel Love), seminars on songwriting/music production with Johnny Summerer and Wolfgang Stieger, etc.

He gained experience in orchestral playing with the International Orchestra Institute Attergau Orchestra (a project with the Vienna Philharmonic), the Innviertler Sinfonie-Orchester, and the Landshuter Kammerphilharmonie under renowned conductors such as Thomas Hengelbrock, Nicholas Milton, and Maximilian Hornung. Since 2018, he has also been a member of the chamber music ensemble “Salzburger Orchestersolisten,” which is led by Benjamin Schmid.

He has twice received a performance scholarship from the Federal Ministry of Science and Research for his outstanding achievements during his studies. Johannes Wilhelm has been a scholarship holder of the international foundation Live Music Now since May 2021.

Johannes Wilhelm completed his basic artistic studies at the Anton Bruckner University with Prof. Albert Fischer and his bachelor's and master's degrees at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Prof. Wonji Kim-Ozim and Prof. Harald Herzl, among others.
